Parasailing

Sadly we have recently seen an increase in deaths from parasailing accidents. People saving their hard earned money to go on the vacations of their dreams and do activities on their bucket lists, have been left with tragedy.  Regulations need to be enacted to ensure the safety of those operating this activity.  An effort to impose minimum regulations on the parasailing industry is starting to get off the ground in the Legislature. The Senate Regulated Industries Committee has recently backed measure (SB320) and there is a House version of the bill (HB 347) which would prohibit parasailing when sustained winds are 20 mph or higher or when lightning storms are within seven miles. Similar measures have failed in the past and have been opposed by the parasailing industry mostly because of increased insurance costs.
